So let me start I am building a twin turbo 1990 lt5 powered 1969 camaro. So I am replacing the sleeves with 4.000" bore steel sleeve and I need to build a fixture to hold the floating sleeves so I can hone them. I have looked everywere for the bore spacing and bolt hole patterns Also am looking for the bolt circle and stuff on the crankshaft so I can build a flexplate for this engine also. Short of setting a head up in my CMM and spending much time mapping this it would be easier to go to someone like your company. So I know that you have done lots of work years past on this engine and might be able to sell me or give me the blue prints of the block or head pattern and well as the crankshaft specs. If you are interesed in picture and stuff I would be happy to post. so far I am at about 100K on this project and I have had a few car mags interested in doing articles on this project as it gets further along. (meaning done) also do you have any parts that you might want to get rid of cheap for this engine. I have already bought out most of Callaways inventory just curious if you have stuff left. Thanks ,Mike

We hone the sleeves in the block with a torque plate. Since you are only building one engine it would be more cost effective for you to send us the block and your sleeves and we can hone them for you. Before we hone them we seal the sleeves to the block then install the torque plate. Once the sleeves are honed you should not remove them from the block so when we ship the block back we would put long bolts with washers on them to hold the sleeves in. If you would like to have this done just let us know. Another benefit is that we use a 4 stone Rottler hone system that is much more accurate than the earlier 3 stone design hones.

What brand of sleeves did you buy? We have always used LA Sleeve to manufacture them for us and we normally keep a few sets on the shelf to sell or use. We have lots of LT5 ZR1 Corvette performance parts and new old stock OEM parts so if you find something else you need just let us know. Bowtie Smilie

Thank-you. I had talked to Doug Rippie at LT-5 parts.com he had told me to contact you about doing the sleeve install. It is hard to subcontract out work when you have almost everything in house. I am using a sunnen CK-10 I know that is 30 years old but it still works great. I was at PRI last year and looked at the Rottler and I think thier equipment has supassed Sunnen.
I contacted BHJ they have the plates for this. As you have said one engine almost doesn't make since. What would you charge to install and hone my Sleeves. I bought them from Callaway they told me that they ordered them from LA sleeve. I am using J&E pistions since they already had job numbers to make the pistons with out me doing all the math. One cost that add to this is shipping from Alb NM to you and back also.
I was told that the thrust bearing area had a problem on the main bearings do you have any insite to this problem?
As parts go I am in need of the dipstick assembly and possibly a stock stroke aftermarket crankshaft more for saftey than anything. I plan to only push 800-900 Hp and was told that was about the limit on these motors before engine life went way down.
Thank-you,Mike

Speaking of the LT5, what type of head work is required to run the stage 3 cams you have for sale? Any mechanical work or just airflow improvements? I have a 368 with siamesed/drop plenum and siamesed IHs. Heads are still on the car but the winter project is primary port work. Thanks!
