I currently have my 05 vette at LPE getting a new engine and tvs2300 package. Iv seen and noticed quite a few people running superchargers that are also running meth injection. Can anyone tell me what exactly it dose for you and also pros and cons. Iv heard people useing it for insurance for crapy gas and also added power. I'm all for more power!! And also Insurane against crapy gas. I would like to here what the folks at LPE think about meth injection, and anyone with any info about this would be great. Thanks!!!

Hi Billy,
When adding a supercharger to a stock engine, you are adding pressure or boost to an already high compression engine. In order for it to survive on 93 octane, there are things we do in order for it to run properly without detonation. High temperatures, high compression, spark advance and boost levels that are exceeded from safe levels are dangerous to your engine, and will cause detonation and eventually damage your engine. We calibrate all of these known items with a safe level of boost. While it is true that more boost = more power, there are side effects that can damage your engine when you step it up. To do it right, we lower the compression ratio, and use a higher quality forged piston for a higher boosted engine. Of course this is the expensive way to go, but also the correct way to do it. What a lot of folks have found is to add meth injection which cools the combustion chamber, and adds just a little bit of octane to help avoid detonation. This is another maintenance item to keep track of. We do not install Methanol injection systems at LPE for this reason.

Jeff, thanks for all the info. Meth injection is new to me, I'm glad to here that if everything is built right then it's not needed, and that's why you guys are builbing my vette. Thanks again Jeff
