Lingenfelter will be finishing development testing in the next few weeks on their new billet steel flywheel that is designed to allow the use of the 2009 C6 ZR1 Corvette twin disc clutch assembly in the new 2010 Camaro, 2005–2009 C6 Corvette LS2 & LS3 or C6 ZO6 Corvette LS7 applications. The LPE flywheel is an OEM spec steel design that will be more durable than an aluminum flywheel while still offering a weight savings of 5 lbs over the stock flywheel. The Lingenfelter steel flywheel will accept the stock 2009 C6 ZR1 twin disc pressure plate assembly and standard clutch discs. This clutch system will allow excellent street drivability and good clutch pedal feel while still offering exceptional power holding capacity. The LPE steel flywheel utilizes the factory locating pins to positively locate the pressure plate on the flywheel. The Lingenfelter flywheel will be offered by itself or in a kit with pressure plate and twin disc clutch discs.

Tim,

Any weight savings with going to the ZR1 setup to from the LS7 clutch? I would think the PP/disk are more weight but was wondering if the new flywheel design is lighter.

The factory 2006 GM C6 ZO6 clutch assembly and flywheel is 56.85 lbs total. The Lingenfelter ZR1 dual disk clutch assembly complete is 57.4 lbs so you will not see much difference between the two. It is lighter than the stock 9 bolt C6 ZR1 flywheel but is not a direct replacement because it is a standard 6 bolt flywheel. We are able to make this flywheel in a nine bolt pattern if anyone is interested. The stock 2009 C6 ZR1 cast iron flywheel is 25.8 lbs where our stronger steel ZR1 flywheel is only 19.1 lbs for a 6.7 lbs weight savings.
