I am the second owner of a 2003 Lingenfelter built Tahoe. It has the 6.0 sc 550 HP package in it built 06/30/03. I have alot of the paperwork that was delivered with the vehicle and it is now i need of a cat being replaced. Local shop lifted it up and highly complimented the work and craftsmanship then promptly told me to contact the company about a replacement cat because they didn't have anything that would fit.

So to the point. Where do I get a cat that will fit? If it helps the invoice number associated with the truck is 16295. I am extremely impressed with the vehicle and hope that I can get some support so that I can do the necessary repairs.

Thanks in advance for the assistance

Mike

Looking at the build sheet from that truck it should have had Borla stainless steel headers with the OEM Y pipe and factory cats. You should be able to go to your GM dealer and order that Y pipe assembly.

Tim I appreciate the quick response keep in mind if I knew how to fix cars or was any smarter I wouldn't be a policeman. Your saying my best bet is to take it by to Chevrolet and let them do the whole deal? I initially took it to them and they diagnosed the problem as a bad cat and the tech suggested I take it to a local shop mom and pop shop and have him just replace the cat. Took it to local mom and pop shop and owner highly complimented your guys work and then said he didn't have anything that would fit.

Bottom line take it back to Chevrolet and have them replace the y pipe and cat?

Thanks in advance for the patience.

Okay so I did some google kung fu and is what your saying just replace to whole thing like.

One of those? Cause I'm tracking with that.

Yes that looks like the correct part. You might check it against the dealers price to be sure that is a deal.

Tim the dealership is definitely not a deal at this point 600+ for the y pipe and cats and a short trip around the internet shows many other options available for much cheaper.

The problem I have is the dealership says they don't have welding capabilities that I would have to goto a muffler shop "They say where the y pipe meets the exhaust is welded as opposed to bolted". Local muffler shop says an OEM y pipe wont bolt up to the aftermarket heads properly? Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be a problem connecting everything up and yes some welding would be required. Can you post a picture of the header to y pipe and y pipe to exhaust system and I will have our fabricators take a look at it.

Hi... just a thought but if you find a custom muffler shop they could cut and weld in a pair of hi-flow cats (Magna flow? etc) and not disturb the rest of the system if it is in good shape. No need to disturb gaskets at heads etc if they are in good shape.
