LINGENFELTER CAR COLLECTION CHARITY SPRING OPEN HOUSE Benefitting the American Cancer Society

One of the top rated car collections in the world will be opening its doors to the public for one special day. The unique vehicles will be available for viewing as money and awareness is raised to support the programs of the American Cancer Society during an open house on Saturday, April 29, 10 am – 5 pm.

“We are thankful for the generosity the Lingenfelters and their ongoing support of our mission,” said Cheryl Donohoe, senior director corporate relations for the American Cancer Society. “The donations raised at this event will help the Society provide critical support to cancer patients through the many programs and services we offer, fund lifesaving research to save lives from cancer and enable us prevent cancer in our community and across the nation.”

The Lingenfelter Collection is a private collection of Ken and Kristen Lingenfelter. Over 200 distinctive vehicles, comprised of Corvettes, Muscle Cars and Exotics, fill the large, 40,000 Sq. ft., facility in Brighton. Each spring and fall, the Lingenfelters open the Collection to the public while raising support for important nonprofit organizations. This is the second consecutive year that the American Cancer Society has been chosen to be the recipient of the proceeds from the spring event.

The American Cancer Society relies on more than 100 years of evidence and proven results to prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from cancer. The organization provides the funds for cutting-edge cancer research that can lead to better treatments; advocates for better laws to help people locally and across the nation who are threatened by cancer; and helps patients and their families with their most pressing needs, including getting rides to treatment, navigating the health care system, and dealing with the side effects of treatment. Thanks in part to the Society’s work, there are nearly 14.5 million people alive in the United States alone who have survived cancer. In fact, more than 500 lives are being saved each day that would have otherwise been lost to cancer.

Guests attending the Open House will be able to support the Society by making a monetary donation at the door. Throughout the afternoon, Ken Lingenfelter will be signing a limited edition event poster, the 2017 Indy Show Car used to promote the Detroit Grand Prix will be on display, Dream Maker’s Automotive will have an exhibit and special show car for viewing, and door prizes will be awarded. Refreshments and food vendors, including Tony’s Dogs and Marconi’s Pizza, will also be available as guests browse the showroom. All open house proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

New to the event this year is an Adam’s Polishes Detail Clinic. Adam Pitale, Founder of Adam’s Polishes, will share tips and advice on proper/safe washing, machine polishing/swirl removal, and proper protection and maintenance.

Motor City Hod Rod & Racing Expo

Lingenfelter powered Superformance Grand Sport Corvette

Join Lingenfelter Performance Engineering at the Motor City Hot Rod & Racing Expo 2017!

More details to come! Stay Tuned Lingenfelter Fans

What is the Motor City Hot Rod & Racing Expo? In its third year, the expo is a unique event designed to gather quality equipment manufacturers, service providers, racers, cruisers, and hot rod enthusiasts of all kinds under one roof. Vendor space is reserved exclusively for new product manufacturers and service providers – the Motor City Hot Rod and Racing Expo is not a swap meet or a car show. Unlike a typical “trade only” show, the expo is open to the public: any hot rod enthusiast is welcomed and encouraged to attend.

The idea behind the expo is to put you, the enthusiast, face-to-face with the manufacturers of products that you are interested in learning more about and/or purchasing. The days of the local speed shop are essentially gone – today we’re forced to read about the majority of products, and make purchasing decisions based on what we see on the internet. The expo provides an opportunity to see these products in person; touch and feel them. Better yet, manufacturers or reps will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. The expo promotes retail commerce; if you’re so inclined, you can purchase most products at the show and take them home with you.

48- Hour Corvette Update

It has been a FANTASTIC weekend for the RideTech crew, as Chris Smith piloted the Instinct-equipped 48-Hour Corvette to yet another amazing win!!

The Fort Worth Goodguys show is historically hot, dusty, and chock-full of great competition. RideTech and our customers again filled the leaderboard at this event; four out of the top 5 spots in the PRO class were RideTech-equipped, with the 1st, 2nd, and 4th place spots going to cars with our new Instinct Electronic Shocks! Texas is also renowned for truck culture, so it’s no surprise that the Truck class at this event was one of the largest of the entire Goodguys season…and it’s also no surprise that all of the top 3 spots in the Truck class were RideTech customers! The weather was fantastic and boasted near-record attendance, the turnout for the autocross was phenomenal, and both competitors and spectators were impressed by the turnout and the awesome autocross action. We’ve got lots more events coming up in March and April, so stay tuned for even more great finishes by the RideTech team!

Climbing the Ladder – Dirk Stratton and his LS7-Powered #Driftvette

The Block - Dirk Stratton

Holley’s LS Fest (link is external) is an event near and dear to our hearts. We attend every year for a chance to witness drag racing, autocross and drifting, all in one weekend and all cars featuring an LS or LT engine. This is where Dirk Stratton comes into the picture. Two years ago, at the 2015 Holley LS Fest, we saw a grey C6 Corvette ripping through the gears at Beech Bend Raceway with a trail of white smoke behind it and we were blown away. It was refreshing to see a Chevrolet chassis dominating in a motorsport series comprised almost solely of small Japanese cars, so we have been keeping our eyes on the driver, Dirk Stratton, ever since.

As it turns out, he has grown leaps and bounds since we last saw him at LS Fest. That year, in 2015, he won the Midwest Drift Union Championship which earned him a spot in the Formula Drift Pro2 series, only one tier below the big dogs of Pro1. He competed in the ‘16 season of Formula Drift (FD) and came in a very impressive 4th place in the overall series points which earned him the prestigious “Rookie of the Year” title.

Dirk is now positioned to compete in the FD Pro2 series again in 2017, although his “Rookie of the Year” title did earn him a license to compete in Pro1. “You know, I just think my team and I should compete another year in Pro2 in order to refine a few things and continue to grow. We hope to enter the Pro1 series in 2018 as a better team and I’m confident we can dominate,” Dirk told us.

So, within a matter of just a few years, Dirk climbed the ladder from the grassroots level of drifting to a professional level, competing alongside some of the best drifters in the world. We were intrigued to find out how he got here and how he progressed so quickly, so we gave him a call to learn more about his story.

ZR-1 of None

Lingenfelter’s “Gen III” LT5 provides a glimpse of what might have been with the original King of the Hill

It’s difficult to overstate the significance of the C4 ZR-1 upon its introduction. In the years leading up to it, rumors swirled and grainy spy phots of a royally dubbed “King of the Hill” high-performance variant captured the imagination of countless enthusiasts. At a time when any new vehicle with more than 250 horsepower was virtually guaranteed the cover of an automotive magazine, this first-ever Corvette supercar promised to be a game changer.

When its extra-wide 315/35ZR17 Goodyear Eagle ZR rear tires finally lit up the pavement in 1990, the ZR-1’s exotic LT5 DOHC V-8 was hailed as a marvel of mechanical achievement, and its 375-horsepower output equaled that of the Ferrari Testarossa’s V-12. The engine was famously developed in a joint venture between Chevrolet and Lotus, and assembled by marine-engine manufacturer MerCruiser.

Chevrolet indeed made a statement that its flagship performer could run with the world’s best. Everyone agreed. Unfortunately, they didn’t exactly acknowledge it with their wallets. Despite an initial stampede for the first few cars off the line, demand for the roughly $30,000 ZR-1 option—applied on top of the $32-$37K tab (depending on model year) for a base C4 coupe—quickly waned.
