  • LT1 & L86 6.2L Gen V V8 cylinder head flow data

We recently performed some flow testing on the LT1/L86 Gen V V8 cylinder heads as part of our Gen V engine component development. The 2014 6.2L LT1 Corvette engine and the 6.2L L86 2014 truck engine use the same cylinder heads.

Here is the cylinder head flow data for the stock 2014 LT1 and L86 6.2L cylinder heads (flow tested on a 4.065" bore fixture):

What is the intake and exhaust port volume of the new LT1/L86 heads vs the LS3? The lack of flow and dip after .500 lift is concerning. Maybe they went for port velocity at the expense of flow rate?

    Gen V head comparison - LT1/L86 vs L83

We have already done flow testing on the L83 5.3L 2014 truck heads and I have previously posted that data in this forum but here is that data compared to the LT1/L86 flow data. This is tested on a 4.065" bore for both heads for comparison purposes. Normally the L83 head would be used on a smaller bore engine since it is designed for the 5.3L (so the flow numbers would be slightly less if it were tested on the correct bore size for that engine).

    LT1/L86 vs LS3 flow data

The LT1 engine in the 2014 C6 Corvette replaces the LS3 engine found in the base 2008-2013 C6 Corvettes so I thought a comparison might be of interest, especially since the heads are used on engines of the same displacement and the same bore size.
