Engine Preparation and Blueprinting
LPE complete engine packages receive the following machine work prior to assembly. This ensures every engine meets our high quality standards. Some packages listed in our catalog do not include short block or rotating assembly modifications. See specific description for details.
Cylinder Block Blueprinting
Align hone checked and re-machined if needed
Cylinders are bored to exact specifications on a Rottler F65 3 axis CNC
Cylinders are precision honed on a Rottler HP6 with torque plates
Deck surfaces are machined in reference to the crankshaft centerline
Blocks are hand de-burred, bolt holes are checked and re-tapped
Component Preparation
All internal parts are de-burred, hand washed and inspected
Pistons, pins and connecting rods are pin fit to specification
Crankshafts are computer balanced to within .5 grams or less
Crankshaft oil holes are chamfered
Crankshaft bearing surfaces are micro polished
External parts are painted if required and prepped for assembly
Cylinder Head Porting & Preparation
Lingenfelter's CNC porting procedure is a computer controlled machining operation that duplicates exact details from a finished LPE hand ported cylinder head. Hand porting is a very labor intensive and time consuming procedure that takes years to perfect. By CNC porting the cylinder heads the high cost of hand porting is reduced, plus the CNC porting is more consistent and will produce better results. Each CNC ported cylinder head will have the exact same port and chamber configuration as the original master used to develop the CNC program.

Following porting each head receives:
Precision 3 angle valve job to maximize flow & provide extended life
CC checking chamber size for correct compression
Surfacing to insure deck flatness
Professional assembly, setting spring height & retainer to guide clearance

Cylinder wall taper

Crankshaft end play
Piston to valve clearance
Bolt torque specifications
Lifter bore diameter

Valve adjustment

Road Testing and Dyno Testing
Because road testing and quality controls are some of LPE greatest concerns, our programming engineers will road test each vehicle. This unique performance verification check insures that each package stands up to LPE expectations and guarantees your complete satisfaction with the performance and drivability of your vehicle. Engine Dynamometer testing is available as an option to customers who wish to verify the complete engine package's horsepower and torque output. We will test your engine on a dyno fully equipped with all of the accessories to simulate the engine as it would be run in the car. Customers are supplied with a complete detailed graph of the engine performance results. Included in each package is a chassis dyno test which produces a graph depicting rear wheel horsepower and torque output of your vehicle.
