| | Why is this car so noisy? In the rear cargo area you will find many issues, the back wall is very thin, the rear tire wells are also extremely thin along with the floor board area. This was done to reduce weight and make the lightest corvette ever produced. With having the lightest corvette also came some extra noise. Another problem is the 18" low profile tires will produce high levels of noise on varying road conditions (there is less sidewall to absorb this. It is noticeably visible how close the rear tire is to your ears. Compared to a mercedes or suv the rear tires are many feet away from you. It only makes sense that the noise difference with the partition installed was substantially less, along with better stereo sound, any time you remove over 10 cubic ft from a listening enviroment you will automatically increase a stereo's sound pressure. One final note, in this style car ,the rear speakers are not completely separated front side to rear side (the rear section of the speaker is open to the cargo area that gives an out of phase condition) We use the term "out of phase" because you can hear both the front side of the speaker and the rear side at the same time hence "out of phase". When the Partition is installed it creates an enclosure for the rear speakers , causing the stereo system to have better sound quality. Partitions are sold with out emblems.
